What Is Brainwave Entrainment?
The most popular sound frequencies used in brainwave entrainment are binaural beats, monaural beats, and isochronic tones.  Most brainwave entrainment companies will insert binaural beats, monaural beats, or isochronic tones into soothing ambient music or relaxation music products, as well as into pleasant nature sounds for inducing deep relaxation.

The sound frequencies embedded into the music enhance the effect the music has on the listener's brainwaves. And it just so happens there are various benefits associated with different brainwave states.  Brainwave entrainment music quickens the process of accessing these benefits whether it be better sleeping patterns, more energy, deep meditation, trance states, creativity, relaxation, and much more.

Binaural Beats, Isochronic Tones, and Monaural Beats
Binaural beats are produced by the brain when a different tone is played in each ear (such as a 200 hz tone in one ear and a 207 hz tone in the other). Your brain will then manufacture a third "phantom" tone that will be the difference between the two tones. So, for example, if a 200 hz tone is played in one ear and a 207 hz tone in the other, your brain will produce a "wah wah" sound that pulses precisely at 7 hz. 7 hz is associated with a relaxing theta brainwave state.

When such brainwave entrainment tones are inserted into the background of soothing ambient music or relaxation music and nature sounds, it enhances the effect the music has on the listener's brainwaves. It usually takes steady repetition for 6 minutes or longer to entrain the brain (it varies from person to person) which is why most brainwave entrainment products are between 15 minutes to an hour in length.

Isochronic tones and monaural beats work a little differently than binaural beats. With isochronic tones and monaural beats instead of playing a different tone in each ear the same tone is sounded in both ears, but the tone turns on and off precisely where you program it to turn on and off at (whether at 1 hz, 5hz, 16 hz, 3.5 hz and so on).
